Discipleship

3 Levels Of Change

When it comes to making disciples it's about one thing...

Fruit!

Does the individual have the fruit of repentance and righteousness?

Have they received Jesus as Messiah (savior) but also as Lord?

Are they walking in obedience to the commands of Christ?

On that note, how do we as "disciple makers" approach this process?

Because we don't want to fall into the trap of being fruit checkers rather than seed planters.

But on the other hand there is some objective measurement required.

Here's something that's helped me...

There are 3 levels of change.

And I believe all 3 must be reached for someone to truly experience change.

Level 1 is UNDERSTANDING (Head).

Level 2 is BELIEF (Heart).

Level 3 is ACTION (Hands).

First, people need to hear and understand the commands of Christ found in the Word.

This is why one of my primary tasks as a disciple maker is to get people reading and practicing Scripture as soon and as frequently as possible.

Second, God's Word needs to go from the head to the heart.

This means becoming a true belief rather than mere intellectual agreement.

It's one thing to believe Jesus forgives other people and quite another to truly believe He forgives YOU!

Third, people to act upon the truth they believe.

This means serving, giving, and responding in obedience to the commands of Christ.

As James said, "Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” - James 2:18

Well, that's what I have for you today!

Hope it's an encouragement.
